Two industry leaders. One simple way to electrify fleets

Allstar and Co Charger have partnered to deliver a near-home charging solution for businesses whose drivers don’t have access to a home charger or driveway. The partnership gives fleets a dependable, lower-cost alternative to public charging. Keeping vehicles charged and drivers productive, while reducing overall charging costs.

About Allstar

Allstar is the UK’s leading payment provider of fuel, EV charging and expense-management solutions, supporting over 50,000 businesses. With over 40 years’ experience, Allstar brings fuel, public charging, home charging and near-home charging together in one platform. Giving businesses complete visibility, control and simpler reporting across all vehicle types.

Drivers are matched with a nearby host

Co Charger matches drivers with trusted local hosts within walkable distance of their home. Drivers are securely linked to their host through the Co Charger app.

Drivers book charging sessions with hosts

Drivers pre-book charging sessions when they need them. Sessions are accepted by the host, usage is tracked automatically, and vehicles charge overnight or during down time.

Costs appear in one HMRC-compliant invoice

Drivers link their Allstar Chargepass card to the Co Charger app. Charging costs are automatically added to the business’s Allstar invoice, removing manual expenses and simplifying reporting.

Time saved is money saved

Businesses can save on average over 40% on charging with near-home charging* compared to public charging. But the biggest saving is time.
By moving charging away from being done during the working day, businesses can avoid lost productivity, help reduce downtime and keep vehicles on the road when they’re needed the most.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does near-home charging work?

We have been helping drivers without access to a driveway to charge their vehicles since 2020. Through our trusted network of shared private chargers, drivers can charge close to home without relying on public infrastructure.

For Allstar customers, Co Charger delivers a tailored near-home charging service:

  • Businesses share postcodes of drivers’ home addresses who cannot charge at home.
  • Co Charger identifies suitable hosts within walking distance and confirms availability of their charger.
  • Charging costs are fixed at a transparent, predictable rate of 45p per kWh.
  • Drivers park on the hosts’ driveway, plug in overnight and return to a charged vehicle.

Charge sessions are measured through the Co Charger app, with payment handled automatically via their Allstar card. Reducing the need for manual expenses or reimbursement.

I’m concerned about risk to the vehicle. How is my company protected?

We understand that risk reduction is critical for fleet operations. That’s why near-home charging is delivered as a controlled, low-risk service.

  • Low operational risk – Over five years and thousands of charging sessions, Co Charger has recorded zero damage claims, avoiding common public charging risks such as theft, vandalism, and blocked chargers.
  • Dedicated support – Allstar customers benefit from priority support via phone, app, and email, ensuring fast resolution with minimal driver or operator involvement.
  • Fully covered – In the unlikely event of an incident at a near-home charging location, the host’s buildings insurance would usually cover the risk. For added peace of mind, Co Charger’s Damage Protection Policy offers additional protection against any unlikely gaps in cover. You can read the Damage Protection Policy document here for more detail on the cover provided.

While the actual risk is tiny (there has never been a reported incident in over five years and many thousands of Co Charger sessions) we understand that fleet operators need to know every eventuality is covered.  A host’s buildings insurance normally covers the risk, but Co Charger has a unique Damage Protection Policy built into its wider liability insurance to cover the even smaller risk of a liability that falls outside what is already covered.   You can click here to read the policy itself.

What are the benefits for my business?

Near-home charging delivers clear operational and financial benefits for businesses:

  • Recovered productive time – Public charging often takes place during working hours. By moving charging to a time when the vehicle is off-duty, you could help reduce vehicle down time.
  • Lower charging costs – Near-home charging is typically around 40% cheaper than public charging*, helping businesses lower fleet running costs and protect margins as they electrify.
*Average cost of charging in public (AllCost report) vs near-home charging.
  • Reduced operational risk – Charging on a private driveway overnight could help reduce the risk of failed sessions or vehicle downtime.
  • Consistent, predictable operations – Drivers could, subject to charging times, start every day with a full battery. No detours, no queues and reliability of over 99%, which is comparable to a dedicated home charger.

Is near-home charging right for all businesses?

Near-home charging is best suited to drivers who take a business vehicle home and don’t have access to a driveway or home charger, but need predictable, low-cost charging without impacting working hours. Allstar can help assess suitability based on your business’ setup.
